THEME FOR THE NEXT CITY HALL SUBMISSIONS

Oviedo Heroes

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
Your photographs should be of firefighters, police officers, veterans, active duty military, or anyone acting as a local hero. 
Photos must have been taken after November 21, 2016.  Each photographer can submit up to 5 photos. If you would like to enter photos please email the club for access to a dropbox folder.

President's Message

My thanks to Vallie for handling the meeting on the 21st in my absence. I took the opportunity to travel to St. Louis and see the sights before viewing the total eclipse on Monday.  Paula was watching from South Carolina and Frederic traveled to Columbia, MO for the event.  We all had a few clouds in the sky but it was still incredible to see in person.  I think we all agree that should you get the opportunity to view a total eclipse, go.  The photos and television coverage do not do it justice. The next total eclipse visible in the United States will be on will be on April 8, 2024.  Of course if you can't bear to leave Florida, there will be an eclipse here as well, in 2045.

No General Meeting at Oviedo on the Park

On Monday, September 4 the Cultural Center is closed.  We will have a Labor Day Cookout at a member's home in Oviedo from 6pm - 9pm.
  
There will be a separate mailing later this week to members with more details and directions.  You may bring a guest.  Members attending are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share, the club will provide the entree, water, tea, soda and coffee.

When you RSVP, please include the side dish or dessert you will bring.

We will meet by the statues on the sidewalk in front of the Cobb Movie Theatre located at 155 South Orange Ave. between Pine St. and Church St.  There should be street parking available close by and there is a parking garage nearby as well.

For the meeting bring 5-7 pictures taken at recent events, for the monthly photo challenge or any other recent photos.  Bring your photos on a thumb drive.  It is very helpful if you use the date of the meeting "SEPT 18" in naming the folders so we can be sure to show the right ones and to make it easy for our projectionist.

City of Oviedo
Call for Photos for New Website

A new website is under development by the City of Oviedo and they have asked the club to take photos in Oviedo to feature in a slideshow on the home page.  Possible subjects include city government buildings, city parks, and other historic buildings and structures.  Photos can be color or monochrome but they should not have any HDR or photoshop "effects" applied.  Minor exposure adjustments and minimal cropping will be allowed.  Only current members of the Oviedo Photo Club may submit images for consideration.  More detailed submission guidelines are available to members.  Published photos will be credited to the Oviedo Photo Club.

In addition to selling photography equipment and hobby supplies, they also hold in-store photo classes, including Basic Digital SLR Class and How To Use Your Point & Shoot Camera.  Classes are being held Fridays and Saturdays.  Call them for more information and to register.

Show your club spirit by adding our club logo to your shirts, hats or bags.  You can order shirts and other items in several styles and colors from Atticus Printing or bring in something you already have and they can embroider the club logo on it for a small fee.
